PRESS RELEASE (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)
BoinxTV moves to Snow Leopard
New version 1.4 improves workflow, supports Axis network cameras and is twice as fast*
Munich, Germany—September 25th, 2009. Boinx Software today announced BoinxTV 1.4, an update to its live-video production software that turns a Mac into a TV studio. BoinxTV, winner of the “Apple Design Award 2009”, makes a strong move to Snow Leopard, with major performance gains. The new version includes support for Axis network cameras and streamlines the production workflow. The update is free for all current BoinxTV users.
"If you are not moving to Snow Leopard with BoinxTV 1.4, you are missing out on twice the speed and more in some areas of the application," says Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. "And there is a lot more potential still to be realized in Snow Leopard that we will leverage in future versions."
Move to Snow LeopardBoinxTV 1.4 now fully supports Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard with huge performance gains. Upgrading to Snow Leopard is strongly recommended for all users of BoinxTV 1.4 as soon as the drivers for their hardware components such as video input cards or audio interfaces have been updated to Snow Leopard compatible versions. Snow Leopard has the potential for even more performance improvements and technological advances which can not easily be brought back to previous systems. Because of this, future versions of BoinxTV will require Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Support for Axis Network CamerasBoinxTV 1.4 introduces a new layer for displaying the video from an Axis network camera. Since these cameras provide their video over the network, many such cameras can be connected to BoinxTV at the same time and over large distances. Even cameras placed on different continents can easily become sources for a BoinxTV show.
Streamlined WorkflowThe whole recording engine has been rewritten for better extensibility and performance. With BoinxTV version 1.4 the saving of recorded movies is almost instantaneous, further reducing the production time. Common actions can be performed on the recording directly from the Export Sheet without the need to use the Finder. Numerous improvements in the export dialog speed up the workflow even more.
Other ImprovementsNew layers include an iPhone demo layer, a Quick Look layer that allows you to display almost any file within your BoinxTV recording and a Sports Standings layer that reads an XML file to display sports results in table view. Many small improvements to the User Interface make the application even more enjoyable and productive to use.
