Animating Kids! Help Youngsters Think, Do and Share

Calling all animation-lovers! Our good friends, the Animation Chefs, need your help! The creativity connoisseurs recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to help fund their latest endeavor, a massive animation and media creation workshop for kids and their mobile devices called Animating Kids!

Our goal is to develop Animating Kids!, an extension of the Animation Chefs web series. We are producing a massive ‘by kids, for kids’ animation curriculum specially designed by our team. Kids learn the foundation of human communication skills – how to thoughtfully present one’s idea, how to work with others on a team. We blend technology, art, math, science, and engineering skills in service of visual storytelling. And we make it fun!

The Animation Chefs are looking to change attitudes about mobile technology by encouraging active, creative expression with tools normally used for passive entertainment. With the launch of their new workshop, the team will help enable kids to use technology as a tool for expression, persuasion and communication using math concepts, sequencing, spatial intelligence, hypothesizing, language art and experimentation. But they can’t do it without our help.

The fundraiser has a goal of $60,000, and all the proceeds will go to creating a bigger and better animation workshop for children, as well as funding the next season of the Animation Chefs’ web series so it can remain free of charge to students, teachers, parents and media mentors worldwide. The team is offering some great perks to donators: exclusive lessons, secret animation recipes, workshops via Skype sessions and special Animation Chefs visits, official licensing, workshop materials and even an iPad mini and table mount!

The fundraising ends on May 27th, so head on over and donate whatever you can. It’s a great cause, and we’re hoping to spread the word as far and wide as we can so kids everywhere will have the chance to achieve their animation dreams.
