Morninginsuburbia

After Final Cut Pro ate the first timelapse attempt, Michael Verdi made another: "Morning in Suburbia". Very cool. What the hell is that guy from Michaels neighborhood doing getting up way before sunrise?

Timelapse Drive Around Loop 610 Houston

The Sound of Crickets Chirping: "I used an iSight camera mounted to the sun visor, passenger-side. The software I used is called iStopMotion and I've used it for several other projects. It's a really neat little app." A great time lapse but it shows the limitations of an iSight which is just a bit too dark. This inspired me to a little project which I will post soon. Watch the movie...

Boinx Software at Macworld Expo

-

We are in the middle of the preparations of the Macworld Expo booth that we will have in San Francisco in January. I've opened a new category on this weblog to collect all postings associated with the Macworld Expo appearance.

Mwsfbooth

This is what the booth looked like in January 2005. The booth in 2006 will be roughly the same. We hope to feature hardware that is a bit more sexy, but details still need to be worked out. Currently we hope to have two iMac G5s for presentation, a Power Mac G5 running the display at the top of the booth and a Mac mini for taking a time lapse of all the people passing our booth and stopping by to get some info.

Three people will be at the booth: Achim and Oliver Breidenbach and Werner Nieke will answer your questions.

We are looking forward to meeting you. Watch this space on information on how to get a ticket for the expo.

Chriswheatleyskaters

Chris Wheatley posts a movie for you peeping toms out there: a time lapse out of his hotel room window of the Old Brompton Road (at the junction with Gloucester Road) in South Kensington. Tools: a PowerBook balanced on top of the TV, iStopMotion and an iSight. He captured this group of skaters at about 21s into the movie.

Bob Magdziarz: Time Lapse Clouds

-

Bob Magdziarz posts some time lapse clouds movies at his website: "Done with my Sony camcorder and iStopMotion at 1 frame a second. I tried different exposures. Some to see the moon texture, some to see the clouds. That's what you get when you stay up past your bedtime."

Mac Meetup Time Lapse

-

German blog "Das Leben ist ein Märchen" posts a time lapse of the 1st Mac Meetup HD at the Shake-A-Delic in Heidelberg, Germany. Done with iStopMotion. Unfortunately, the file is hosted at RapidShare and therefore a bit of a pain to download.

Levi's 501: "World Gone Pretty"

-

levis501.jpg

Director Simon Blake produced a 2 minute "viral commercial" for Levi's 501 called "World Gone Pretty" using iStopMotion. He writes: "It was wonderful using your software. I can't wait to keep on using it in the future." Aside from the short itself, the web page also contains a "Behind the Scenes" section which features a time lapse movie from the movie set and a bit of background on the story.

Happy Faces at the Apple Teacher Institute Germany

-

The "Apple Lehrer-Kongress", as the Apple Teacher Institute is called in Germany, was a huge success with both attendees and presenters. iStopMotion was presented in two workshops by Michael Fromm and Boinx Software's Oliver Breidenbach. Watch the "happy faces" movie on the Apple Germany web site, made with FotoMagico.

We also reported earlier and posted a time lapse movie of the lunch buffet.

Watch the Buffet

-

I was representing Boinx Software at the recent Apple Teacher Institute (called "Lehrer-Kongress" in Germany) in Weimar where I shot this time lapse of the Lunch buffet being set up and destroyed using iStopMotion. There were two workshops about animation with iStopMotion held by Apple Distinguished Educator Michael Fromm and the attendees loved it.
