From L.A. to Bremerhaven with Marc Widmer
Thursday, July 07, 2005 - Permalink

Using FotoMagico, Swiss student Marc Widmer documented a trip on a container ship from Los Angeles to Bremerhaven (Germany). The month-long journey took him from Zürich to Los Angeles by plane and on the "Caribbean Sea" down the West Coast to Panama, through the canal, up to New York, across the Atlantic to Thamesport (UK) and then to Bremerhaven in Germany. The slide show is part of a paper for his studies.

MacLife 08/3005: FotoMagico vs. iPhoto 5
Monday, July 04, 2005 - Permalink

In the August edition of german Mac Magazine "MacLife", author Matthias Jaap compares FotoMagico with iPhoto 5's slide show and DVD creation features. He concludes: "FotoMagico is the clear winner. Although iPhoto ostensibly offers more eye candy in the form of 12 transitions, the software from Boinx is faster, more flexible and open-minded about local TV signal standards."

"FotoMagico takes slideshows to new heights"
Monday, June 20, 2005 - Permalink
Janet Mobley reviews FotoMagico for "TMUG Insider", the Tri-Valley Macintosh Users Group (Pleasanton, CA) newsletter, June 2005 issue:
I had spent about 12 hours of time and several pots of coffee in two evening sessions in the hotel room producing this overnight sensation. My Titanium 15" laptop had enough RAM (1 GHz) and robustness to create and playback a full-screen, stereo-soundtrack-ed, smooth-moving, judiciously panned and zoomed, FotoMagico slideshow. Much easier to use than iMovie, and in my opinion more intuitive, FotoMagico costs all of $79 for the downloaded software and is well worth the brief learning curve. [...] It takes slideshows to new heights of control and production speed.

FotoMagico "does stuff better than Apple’s iApps"
Thursday, June 02, 2005 - Permalink
Robert Pritchett reviews FotoMagico for macCompanion and awards it 5 Stars: "Strengths: Does stuff better than Apple's iApps." ... "There is a good reason why Boinx picked the magician's hat as a logo for this app. It really is magic!" ... "Titling allows for more freedom of movement than in using Apple's iApps. That's right, it allows the text to move and resize."

"Cool spins and zooms beyond the Ken Burns effect"
Friday, May 27, 2005 - Permalink
Jason writes: "Mary's parents wanted some video footage to show Eawyn off to some of their relatives and it seemed like a pretty fun project to finally put all the video and pictures we've been taking since September to use. In just over a days time I managed to whip up a fairly large slideshow and a small video compilation of Eawyn [...]. I used Boinx FotoMagico to do the slideshow portion of the project since it allows for cool spins and zooms that go beyond the typical iMovie Ken Burns effect and integrates nicely with iPhoto."

"The results are impressed clients."
Monday, May 09, 2005 - Permalink
Don Gianatti from Phoenix, AZ, looked for a presentation solution for Mac users and writes on his weblog: "We have been using ProShow Gold and iMovie to make presentation samples for clients. [FotoMagico] looks nearly as robust as ProShow Gold (which unfortunately is PC only) and is very affordable. We have created custom portfolios, proof presentations and more and delivered them on CD / DVD. The results are impressed clients, no useable files trade hands and the clients share the presentations with many more possible clients than they do the prints/proofs that we used to deliver."

Macworld: FotoMagico - It's Magic
Thursday, April 14, 2005 - Permalink
Tom Penberthy writes for Macworld:
Slide shows in iPhoto are perfect—if you happen to have a song that's the exact length of your show, and if image transitions happen to fall at appropriate beats. OK, that never happens. Enter Boinx Software's FotoMagico. Layer in multiple songs from iTunes, and set transition points so images change in time with the music.
