From Seattle to San Francisco and back
Thursday, January 18, 2007 - Permalink
Chuck Goolsbee of digital.forest loves long distance driving and took his car on the road to Macworld San Francisco. He time lapsed the southbound and the northbound journey and wrote a travel log. Interesting details such as doing an average 90mph on the first hour of the northbound trip.
Also on his website a short time lapse of the dawn over the digital.forest offices.

We do not have a booth this year, but Oliver will be giving a short seminar at the Digitial Photography Experience entitled "How to tell a story - From Photo to Slideshow" each day of the exhibition (Jan 9th to Jan 12th) at 1pm. I created a category for the Macworld 2007 posts, so if there is anything interesting to report, you will find it there.

Happy New Year!
Tuesday, January 02, 2007 - Permalink
2006 ends as a very successful year for Boinx Software. We finally got iStopMotion into the Apple Retail stores and managed to grow our US business by almost 60% compared to 2005. Worldwide the growth was almost 50%. For 2007 we have great ambitions. Starting at Macworld in January where Oliver will be giving a 45 minute seminar on how to make great slide shows each day at The Digital Photography Experience. At the same time, at BETT in London, iStopMotion will be featured prominently at the Create at BETT booth. In March, we will exhibit with a small booth at PMA 07 in Las Vegas. We could almost stay there because just four weeks later, at NAB, we will have the biggest booth in company history and hope to make a big impression on the pros. Plans for 2007 also include major new versions for our apps, a pro HD setup for iStopMotion, great new stuff with Quartz Composer and more. Of course we will keep you updated through Boinx Chronicles and the Newsletter we send out roughly monthly. We hope 2006 was as good to you as it was to us and wish you all the best for 2007. Oliver Breidenbach for the Boinx Software Team.

NOWWASHYOURHANDS: Disassemble
Tuesday, January 02, 2007 - Permalink
"There is nothing worse than channeling hours of hard graft into the Mac sitting under your desk, only to be greeted with the non descript 'Fatal Error' message just as you are saving up for the day. The piece of equipment that regularly takes the flak for this event is the one closest to hand: the keyboard.
To emphasize the frustration and brutality often directed towards this simple input peripheral, and as our own exercise in anger management, we bring you the 'Disassemble' Issue. This passive journey through the insides of a keyboard reminds us of the fragile nature of this innocent bystander. So the next time Photoshop unexpectedly quits, spare a thought, breathe in and count to ten. Then calmly re-do the lost work. It'll be quicker the second time."
