Quartz Composer is doing a lot of cool things, but, curiously, it can't draw a simple line. Because we needed it for a project, we created a patch to draw a line. So, with great pleasure, we present you with Boinx Line Patch 1.0. Boinx_Line_1.0.zip
Zipped Directory, 168 KB
The Archive includes installation instructions and more info in the Read Me file and a couple of sample Quartz Compositions. You can see demo movies of these here:

Great article at Apple about the Animation Academy at Loughborough University which is "a dedicated research and teaching facility committed to pushing the creative boundaries of animation, design and video production." They also use iStopMotion in their labs.

Cover - Mark Isham: Blue SunBlending together nicely with the current weather I wanted to post a link to one of my all-time favourite Jazz records: Blue Sun by Mark Isham. Even though Mark thanks L. Ron Hubbard in the liner notes I can't resist falling in love with the music every time I hear it. Every single note seems to be thoughtfully placed while still being improvised and guided by emotion. Of course, the music also reminds me of the great time I had in Atlanta during winter 95/96. Check out "That Beautiful Sadness" or "In a Sentimental Mood" on iTunes. Mark Isham - Blue Sun

In October 2006, artist Ming Wong led a stop frame animation workshop for adults at the Digital Media Centre at South Hill Park, UK, focusing on the creation of animation using 2D cut outs and drawn images.

Watch the examples and read what participants had to say at their gallery website.

Workshops on "Ink on Glass animation" and "Bas Relief" using molded wet clay are planned for 2007.

FotoMagico 1.8 is out. It adds support for Aperture libraries. Update is free for all current FotoMagico users. Read the press release, the Version History and download here. We also discovered the reason for a couple of long outstanding support isssues. A problem in the drivers of the ATI Radeon 7500 card prevents FotoMagico from properly exporting slideshows on a small number of machines. Read more about this issue.

Munich, Germany - Nov. 22nd, 2006. FotoMagico 1.8 now integrates libraries from Apple's Aperture software in the Images tab so that photos in the Aperture Library can be accessed directly from within FotoMagico. The addition of the "New with Template" command makes it easier for users to create slide shows with the correct settings for the final presentation environment.
