Gizmodo has an interesting tidbit about a new product to be introduced at MacExpo London end of October. Huckleberry is a periscope for the iSight built into the MacBook and MacBook Pro so that you can use it to record things that happen on the other side of your screen. Perfect for iStopMotion and iVeZeen. Unfortunately, there is no product page yet. Price is reported to be about $30.

The Deadly Deaths

Nick Feisst of The Deadly Deaths, "restrained indie synth pop" band from Hamilton NZ, uses iStopMotion to create a music video for the group: " I'm using iStopMotion along with an iSight camera to do my movement tracking in the music video, and then using a digital SLR to take full resolution images."
There are nice pictures of the set and characters on his blog.

Clay Nation by Max
Tuesday, October 03, 2006 - Permalink
Max is the son of Keith Martin, MacUser magazine's Technical Editor. Clay Nation is
the home of plasticine claymation animations by Max. [...] Stop-frame animation can take a long time, but it is a lot of fun to do. All you need is some plasticine, clay, blutak or something like that, a webcam of some sort, and a program for capturing each frame. I use iStopMotion, a great animation tool for the Macintosh."
Very cool animations, an awesome QuickTime VR of the Clay Nation studio and a podcast on animation.

Usable Help: "unprecedented clarity"
Monday, October 02, 2006 - Permalink
Gordon R. Meyer writes on his blog "Usable Help" about Mouseposé: "The result is unprecedented clarity for any type of "watch me do this" instruction. I've found it useful even for one-on-one situations, and I suspect in the classroom it would be indispensable. [...] Help authors will also want to examine its unique "talkthrough" feature that combines Mouseposé's visual tricks with Apple's text-to-speech capability. When you activate the talk-through, the program highlights and explains its own features and functions, while you sit back, listen, and learn. A very interesting approach that's completely consist with the product itself."
