FotoMagico at Mactreff, Munich

-

On March 9th I was guest at the Mactreff user group meeting in Munich where Peter and I gave a presentation of FotoMagico. They seem to have liked both the program and the presentation and posted a nice article at their website.

After a month, the article will probably move to this location.

FotoMagico 1.2.1

-

"Ooops" is something you don't want to think when you startup your software on a lazy tuesday morning and it gives you the message "This beta version has expired." Looks like we forgot to remove the expiration code from the shipping version 1.2.

Please accept our apologies.

A FotoMagico 1.2.1 was quickly posted, though, but there will be some customers who are going to be surprised just when they don't need it. It is one of the rare cases where we had to send everyone using FotoMagico an email to alert them to the problem. And one of the cases where we are lucky to have the email adresses.

We are also real close to 1.2.2 which has a number of important bug fixes.

FotoMagico on the Big Screen

-

websizefmpict1.gif

More fun from the Boinx Labs. FotoMagico is made for slideshows with the highest possible resolution. For example on an HDTV screen with 1300 by 800 resolution (approx.). For this one we hooked up a Mac mini (the tiny box at the bottom on the right) via HDI cable to an LG 37" HDTV. Works like a charm and the FotoMagico slideshows rock. This one is going to be used at the upcoming CeBIT trade show.

Steffen Spielberg on SWR1

-

The team from german public radio station SWR1 has fun (in German) with the beta version of iStopMotion 1.8. Using the new soundtrack import feature makes it possible for Steffen Tröger of Go!Le Go! to animate to a given sound bite. His animation is featured in a text on the teams news page. Very nice camera movement.

You Software uses Mouseposé for screenshots

-

Mike Wong from You Software posts a plug on the You Software company weblog: "I received a couple of emails since my last post asking how I made the cool spotlight in my screenshots that focused in on a specific area. I didn't do it in Photoshop like some asked, though I suppose you could do that easily enough, but I found a great free utility that does it faster than I could in Photoshop."

"FotoMagico fills the gap between iPhoto, iTunes and iDVD"

-

German Technology News site "Industrial Technology & Witchcraft" has a nice review of FotoMagico 1.2 in german:

FotoMagico vom Münchener Entwickler Boinx spingt in die Lücke, die Apple zwischen iPhoto, iTunes und iDVD gelassen hat: es verheiratet Photos und Sound so, daß man sie über einen DVD-Player auf dem Fernseher präsentieren kann.  Und das macht es geradezu Apple-like einfach und gut, weshalb es vermutlich auch im vorigen Jahr mit O'Reillys Mac OS X Innovators-Preis ausgezeichnet wurde.

Boinx Software booth at didacta 2005 in Stuttgart. The kids love iStopMotion. The teachers are fascinated. And I am astonished how well known the software is in education circles.
