"German Engineering does it again..."
Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - Permalink
Professor Andrew DeVigal looks at FotoMagico: "German Engineering does it again...I'm not talking about the Carrera GT, though that piece of machinery is simply beautiful, I'm talking about their commitment to Apple software. Went to MacWorld SF last week and discovered this very cool and easy to use application to put your photos into a slideshow (not slideshows for the web but for those slideshows in presentations, kiosks and movies). Sure, you can do something like this with iLife. But Boinx added some features that has made producing these slideshows with finesse quickly. The U.I. for setting up the start and finish shots is seamless. But one of my favorite features is the option to set the transitions between photos on user determined markers on the audio track."

First Mac Slideshow ever
Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - Permalink
21 years ago, the Macintosh was unveiled with the first ever slideshow played on the Mac. (Video uncovered by Industrial Technology & Witchcraft) The audience went nuts when seeing the low res, grayscale images which were mostly screenshots of the Desktop and several early Mac applications. The only transition available was "Flicker" and in order to achieve the performance, the slideshow had to be coded in Assembly Language. Watch Steve hook up the Mac to the projector (how he did that is a big mistery since the Mac did not have a video connector) and do the show. (One can only wonder what the audience would have done seeing a FotoMagico slideshow...)

Dan Frakes reviews Mouseposé for Macworld: "Since the purpose of a presentation is to show or demonstrate something, effective visual aids are important. When you're demonstrating software—in a classroom, a training course, or, in this case, a Macworld Expo conference session—you want your audience to be able to follow exactly what you're doing." And he rates it
