Boinx Software

Technological Archeology

taligent.jpgWhen I was in California recently, I also took a trip to Apple Headquarters, buying some stuff at the Apple Company Store. Driving down the De Anza Blvd., I came upon this piece of history, bringing back feelings of hope for our favorite platform back in the 90's. Taligent was supposed to save the world from the dominance of the dark empire. A seemingly strong alliance was forged, but failed to deliver. Taligent was dismantled in 1998, but the sign at the De Anza Blvd. remained, exposed to the destructive forces of time. The building that housed Taligent is still up for lease.

The Copeland Operating System

-

Although it has nothing to do with Boinx Software or our products, I need to mention the article about Stewart Copelands Keynote at O'Reilly the Mac OS X Conference. Stewart is a very impressive stage presence and he is probably a typical "user" so listening to him talking about how he actually uses his computer is very important to software developers. I still don't know if the pun on Copland (as in the Apple OS that never saw the light of day) was intended.
