How to work with Layers and Settings
Layers and Settings are another essential concept of BoinxTV. Layers are responsible for rendering graphics (movies, camera input, images) and sound. Settings let you configure your layers in interesting ways. Watch this How-to to understand these concepts.
About Layers
- A layer is an element that will be drawn to the output.
- Each layer can contain up to three video inputs that can be fed with cameras, movies, animations or still images.
- A layer can contain any number of other inputs like colors, fonts, text and so on.
- Layers will be drawn on top of each other, starting with the bottom, ending with the topmost layer.
- A layer does not have to fill the whole screen.
- A layer can be disabled or LIVE. If LIVE it will be drawn.
- In the document window layers are represented as bars, located in the center of the window.
About Settings
- Settings give you the ability to use one layer multiple times in your show, with different parameters.
- Each layer can have multiple settings.
- One setting holds all parameters of a layer.
- You can easily switch between settings while the show is being recorded.
- To create a new setting hit the small plus (+) button inside the layer bar.
- Switch between the settings of a layer using the left and right arrow buttons in the row of the layer.
- You can always edit the parameters of the selected setting in the left column.
- Only one setting on a layer can be LIVE at a time. You can tell the LIVE setting by the On/Off switch being on.
